The Third Interview-1st location
Nice shot we captured on tracks.
Following the plan from the meeting on day 1 Oliver and Saul went down to Dunnett Street to get more footage of Tomo's work to make the most of our time as a whole team, while Me, hannah, Noah and Alex K started to set up for the first two interviews. What we didn't realise until the other group were half way there was that the walk down to Tomo's work was roughly 2 hours. They got a decent amount of footage of the docks on the way but a lot of it was private land and they couldn't film certain areas without payment, so some of that footage is useless. They also went past quite a few other pieces of graffiti so they got a decent amount of extra cut away footage. They interviews went really well, with Noah and Hannah introducing the team and the project to them while me and Alex K quickly set up. Hannah and Noah were the ones asking the questions in the interview so they did most of the talking before the interview as we didm't want to intimidate them. I made sure the lighting and backdrop was right, adjusted the settings on the zoom with mic testing, asked Alex K to tell me when the boom was in shot so I had a reference point. I also made sure to make them feel comfortable with the mic being so close to their face, which with a little joke and laugh about it they soon got over it and even ignored it completely. I also removed the sleeve as we were inside and I wanted to get as close as I could and get a rich high quality interview.

Despite not wanting 6 people for the interview yesterday, our interview with Tristan (second of the day) was outside so we needed an extra couple of people to help set everything up quickly and stop the public from walking while we were rolling. Tristans interview it's self went extremely well, he was a really good character that had a lot of good things to say about street art and expressed it in a passionate way. He is setting up a street art festival and said the main focus of it would probably be around Tomo showing the importance of him and how that would be an extremely good interview to get for the project.

Since we didn't have a set location for the Tristan interview we did it on the street near a big mural to provide some visuals to explore for the viewers. However a problem became imminently clear with the sound as the cars going past in the background were being picked up by the mic even though the shot gun mic was covered with the muff and on the boom pole pointed towards his chest. So we had to move to another location to get better audio. This also provided more variety of things to talk about since Tristan was knowledgeable about the local area.

Also after Tristans interview Hannah the producer, got a call saying that the people from yesterday had got Tomo to agree to be interviewed. When we got to the interview we met Tomo and due to the nature of what he does he said he'd be filmed but wouldn't show his face and if we did see his face we'd have to blur it out. He was willing to have his voice used so the interview was still quite good and it was nice to get an opinion from an actual established street artist.

Despite this being a long day it was an extremely officient one.

Notes from the second day meeting.
